Lala Achhru Ram came from a renowned family of the town of Mahatpur in the district of Jalandhar. A few years before, 1918, you had settled your advocacy in Jalandhar and your lectures were started in Jalandhar Arya samaj.
You were very studious and your area of study was huge. In the library of Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, in almost twenty parts, there is an elegant English-language book of world-history, on which you have written with your hand that this book has been donated by you to the institution. This book has been one of the most interesting books of the library for the writer in his long life of the school, and seeing this again and again, the writer has a feeling of interest in the history of Lala Achhru Ram ji, and that too in the history of the vast world.
During advocacy in Jalandhar, you had special interest in school management. For a long time, you were also the deputy head of the school’s managerial council. You started practicing in Lahore around 1930, even then your relationship with the school was maintained. You were appointed Judge of the Punjab High Court around 1940. Judges have to stay away from political and social organizations. But you told Chief Justice that you cannot break off your relationship with Kanya Maha Vidyalaya and the Chief Justice praised your spirit.
By the time of partition of the country, you were the Judge of the Punjab High Court and you got renowned for your merit and justice. After the partition you came to Delhi and was appointed ‘custodian-guardian’ of ‘Avaikui property- property of the displaced persons’. It was also a great work that you accomplished with ability.
Among the three famous leaders of the Indian National Army, Sehgal, Dillon, Shahnawaz, Prem Sehgal was your son who received All India fame and got a place in the history of the national movement.
